Quest Aviation Services has added to its aviation portfolio with the part acquisition of UK-based Avionics Mobile - specifically the design and installation elements of the business. The 36-year old established company, which holds proprietary rights on the design of avionic and electrical installations, gives an added boost to Jet Engineering Technical Support (JETS') business and complements the latter's expertise in MRO work on primarily business and regional aircraft.
Newly renamed Avionics Mobile Design Services (AMDS), based at Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, holds EASA Part 21J approval to carry out avionic/electrical design and modifications on an extensive array of aircraft – civil and military - even rockets and hot air balloons. Capabilities include the fitting of IFE, satellite phones, weather detection systems and broadband. As its name suggests, Avionics Mobile Design Services will go to the customer to undertake work - anywhere in the world.
"Previously, we have had to subcontract out our avionics design work. Now, we will be able to offer our customer base a full suite of services inhouse through the acquisition," said Peter Hadingue, Commercial and Sales Manager at JETS. Furthermore, with more and more secondhand business jets being updated and a growing trend to turn regional aircraft into VIP aircraft, (as evidenced of late by the popularity of the 328JET and CRJ-200 especially) the Group believes it is well placed to respond to increasing demand.
Complementing JETS' business activity, AMDS supports a number of business aircraft operators – fixed wing and rotary. Existing customers include Jet Aviation, Bristow and Sloane Helicopters.
Matthew Lyon, Head of Design at AMDS said: "We are delighted to be working with JETS, through our new part owners, and look forward to undertaking more activity in the lucrative business aviation sector as a result. There is a lot of synergy in our businesses."
JETS will be talking up its capabilities in MRO and Avionics Mobile Design Services expertise at the Jet Expo Show in Moscow, Russia this week, 16-18 September, Stand No A138.
