Danish aviation company Air Service Vamdrup expands into Norway

Danish aviation company Air Service Vamdrup ApS has just signed an agreement regarding the establishment of an aircraft service center with Pilatus Center Nordic Countries in Norway. The service center will be based at Eggemoen Aviation & Technology Park, where Air Service Vamdrup will also be servicing most other small aircraft, business aircraft and helicopters.

Air Service Vamdrup ApS has just signed an agreement regarding the establishment of an aircraft service center with Pilatus Center Nordic Countries, Tronrud Engineering AS. "We are extremely pleased that we now have the agreement" said Torben Biehl Jensen, business development director at Air Service Vamdrup ApS. The center will be a so-called EASA Part145 maintenance facility situated in Norway at Eggemoen Aviation & Technology Park at Hønefoss, approx. 60 km northwest of Oslo.

Pilatus Service Centre and GA workshop

"At the moment, we are working to get the workshop approval – and apart from being a Pilatus PC-12 Service Center we will also be able to perform maintenance for other GA aircraft and helicopters at Eggemoen" Torben Biehl Jensen explained. In other words, the workshop will be a significant asset to owners of small aircraft, business aircraft and helicopters all over the Nordic countries. Torben expects the workshop to be up and running by May 1st 2014.

Extensive PC-12 experience – now also formally appointed

"At the moment, we already maintain 18 PC-12 aircraft at our facilities in Vamdrup, Denmark, and we are pleased and proud that the Pilatus Center Nordic Countries, Tronrud Engineering AS, acknowledges our extensive knowhow by appointing us to be in charge of PC-12 service in the Nordic region" said Torben Biehl Jensen.

Commercial flight in single engine aircraft

Until now, an aircraft has had to have two engines in order to be used for commercial flight in countries like Norway, Denmark and Sweden. New rules, however, allow instrument flight with paying customers in single engine aircraft, including the Pilatus PC-12. And as a result, Torben Biehl Jensen believes that the PC-12 will become even more popular in the years to come.

Great opportunities in Norway

At Eggemoen, Air Service Vamdrup rents Tronrud Engineering's practically new hangar, 1250 square meters in total. "At this facility, we will be offering all sorts of maintenance for helicopters and aircraft – and also CAMO, ARC-renewals, avionics installations and repair etc.," Torben Biehl Jensen explained.

"To us, Norway represents a large “field” of opportunities. Not the least at Eggemoen, where Ola Tronrud has established a 2100-meter runway. Tronrud has a vision to develop the area and become market leading in terms of aviation and technology, which makes it possible to attract a lot of new customers. Having a workshop facility is, however, a basic demand for further development" Torben Biehl Jensen concludes.
