Resource Group is to implement a first-of-its-kind 'Trainee Technician Programme' to extend the existing apprenticeship scheme run at JETS by two additional years. This will allow current “A” licence technicians to achieve an EASA Part-66 “B” licence.

For the duration of the two-year traineeship, the technician will be employed by Resource Group's Aviation Resourcing Solutions division and trained via its EASA Part-147 Approved Aviation Technical Training organisation. The advantage for apprentices is a continued professional development pathway with JETS, allowing both them to work more efficiently and progressively within a structured and stable environment.

Paul Cashin, operations manager at Resource Group's Aviation Resourcing Solutions division said: “At Resource Group we are doing everything we can to assist in delivering high caliber engineers to boost the predicted aviation technical skills shortfall in the industry. It is vital to support apprentices and this extension of their initial “A” licence training allows us to support enthusiastic and capable, young people in building the foundations of a long-lasting career in aviation.”

Andy Preston, maintenance & engineering manager of JETS said: “We have worked closely with Resource Group to establish this Trainee Technician Programme, in order for us to further develop our talented apprentices. We currently have two trainee technicians signed up to launch the new programme and look forward to a very successful two years ahead.”
