Cobham presents new Aviator S Series and COGS (Ceramic Oxygen Generating System) at EBACE

Leading satellite communications supplier Cobham Satcom is introducing its ground-breaking new Aviator S series at this year's European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE).

Cobham recently expanded its highly-regarded AVIATOR portfolio of airborne satellite communication systems with the announcement of the new S series family of products, adding to the well-established line ranging from the Aviator 200 to the Aviator 700D.

The Aviator S series will support a wide range of communication applications in both the cockpit and cabin, including in-flight calling, internet browsing, cockpit voice service and EFB connectivity.

The first system to be made available will be the Aviator 200S – a unique, compact two LRU (Line Replacement Unit) satellite communication system which combines cabin connectivity and cockpit services all over a single Inmarsat SwiftBroadband channel, meeting the requirement for FANS 1/A operation.

Cobham is working closely with Inmarsat to bring the next generation of airborne satellite communication to the market in the near future following final safety services approval of SwiftBroadband.

The Aviator S series forms part of Cobham Satcom's comprehensive range of advanced Aviator satcom systems which provide simultaneous voice and high-speed data communications for cockpit and cabin in the air transport, business aviation and government markets. The Aviator SwiftBroadband systems are easy to install and provide connectivity for applications including email, internet browsing, voice calls, data transmission, smartphone connectivity and streaming video.

Allowing comprehensive and flexible installation options, Cobham also offers a range of high, intermediate and low gain Inmarsat satcom aeronautical antennas to support Inmarsat SwiftBroadband, Swift 64 and classic Aero I/M services.

Generating Pure Oxygen on Demand

Cobham Life Support, part of Cobham plc's Cobham Mission Systems division, introduces its patented COGS™ (Ceramic Oxygen Generating System) – the latest innovation in point-of-use oxygen gas generators. Recognizing that pure oxygen is vital for many applications and that ultimate security and an endless supply of oxygen on location is critical, COGS provides security and control of your oxygen supply.

Based on patented Integrated Manifold and Tube (IMAT) technology, COGS produces ultra-high purity (≥99.99+%) oxygen gas from atmospheric air by means of ion-conduction and offers a simple on-demand solution for moderate volume users.

As a stand-alone system, COGS 2L and 5L units only require electrical power to generate high purity oxygen and provide supply pressures starting at 2250 psi. COGS is ideal for “point of use” cylinder filling and recharging, especially for use in remote locations where it can be important to eliminate costly cylinder delivery expenses and increase reliability of the oxygen supply.

Simple annual maintenance for COGS involves replacement of a conveniently located air filter. Key performance parameters for COGS can be monitored remotely using a networked computer connected to the USB port on the unit or through wireless connectivity.

COGS meets ABO (Aviator Breathing Oxygen) specifications and therefore eliminates the reliance on third party suppliers and offers complete control with a continuous supply of ABO at any FBO/MRO facility.

Successfully utilized and proven in harsh environments for the US military, Cobham's COGS technology is now being offered for aviation, commercial and industrial applications.
