SkyTrac's NEW portable DSAT-200 is gaining acceptance with rotary and fixed wing operators looking to comply with government Automatic Flight Following (AFF) regulations. Leveraging technology from SkyTrac's field-proven ISAT transceiver, the DSAT is a portable unit that is lighter, smaller and less expensive. The DSAT contains a data-only Iridium transceiver, a built-in Global Positioning System (GPS), and a long-life battery that allows it to operate without aircraft power. The DSAT-200 is available with either a single installed dual antenna, or 2 portable antennas, and also comes with an aircraft adapter that allows the unit to be connected to main aircraft power if required.
Kathleen Wallace, President and CEO of SkyTrac Systems commented: "the DSAT 200 is proving to be an affordable, flexible, and reliable satellite based flight following solution for operators who simply wish to be AFF complainant and/or do not require voice and/or full text capabilities. The fully portable DSAT provides immediate AFF compliance or simple flight following functionality – SkyTrac Systems has units in stock and is able to ship with little or no lead time."
David James, Operations Manager at North Wright Airways commented: "the DSAT has given us a reliable, lower cost solution for aircraft that only require simple flight tracking. Dispatch is now able to better coordinate flights and communicate with customers on schedule related enquires. "
