Cobham Satcom targets expansion in Asia with new sales appointment

Cobham SATCOM has signalled its intent for expansion in Asia by creating a new role of regional sales director for the China region.

Based in Shanghai, experienced sales manager Jianmin Cui has been appointed to the aeronautical sales team. He has responsibility for sales activities of Cobham SATCOM's aeronautical satellite communications product line to the general aviation market, with particular focus on air transport.

With over 16 years of Aviation experience and eight years in business development and programme sales for avionics systems, Cui joins the company from Honeywell, where he worked as the technical sales manager for avionics systems.

The addition to the global sales team has been created to manage the sales strategy in Asia and to cope with the increase in enquires received in this key region by strategic business unit Cobham SATCOM, the company behind the highly-regarded AVIATOR SwiftBroadband series.

Vice president Aeronautical Business Unit at Cobham SATCOM Kim Gram said: “Jianmin's strong background in working with airlines and also in avionics sales means he will be a valuable addition to the sales team and a key manager in this important region. His contacts in the area and many years of experience will help Cobham SATCOM strengthen its presence in the air transport business and wider markets with our innovative products and unmatched customer service.”

With its highly-regarded family of AVIATOR SwiftBroadband solutions, Cobham plc Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Cobham SATCOM signals its intent to lead the way in the aeronautical communications sector at this year's Singapore Airshow.

Cobham SATCOM was formed after the July 2012 acquisition of Danish satellite telecommunications group Thrane & Thrane by British defence equipment manufacturer Cobham plc. The SBU's aeronautical group now consists of the experts and engineers behind the established AVIATOR and Omnipless brands.

Cobham SATCOM's already well-established core portfolio of SwiftBroadband solutions, ranging from the AVIATOR 200, 300, 300C and 350 to the AVIATOR 700 and 700D and new AVIATOR S series provides in-flight connectivity to support a host of advanced applications including cockpit voice dialling in addition to in-flight calling, email and internet browsing for passengers.
