Press Release

December 2, 2013
Danish aviation company Air Service Vamdrup ApS has signed an agreement with the English aircraft piston-engine company Norvic Aero Engines Ltd. to form an 'installation centre' - an extension of the company in northern Europe. This will mean a cost reduction for aircraft owners when their engines need to be overhauled, 'exchanged' or shock load repaired.
English aircraft engine company Norvic Aero Engines Ltd. whose workshop facilities are located in St Neots, overhaul and repair Lycoming, Continental and Franklin piston engines. Norvic also has Rotax 912 and 914 shockload, overspeed inspection and repair capabilities. Every month, the employees at Norvic take good care of approximately 20 engines.
This new partnership with Air Service Vamdrup will see the Danish enterprise becoming a strong representative of the English company in Scandinavia and northern Europe. In doing so, Norvic will be able to service yet more engines, with guaranteed lower costs and shorter downtime for customers.
Torben Biehl Jensen, business development director at Air Service Vamdrup ApS, explains: 'For aircraft owners with engines due for an overhaul, the process is so easy. You just call up to book an appointment, bring your aircraft in and we do all the work. Your engine gets sent immediately to England for an overhaul or if you prefer and if an exchange engine is available we can have this ready for you in advance. This is not only time efficient and cost effective but also a much better service for our customers.'
Smaller deposit and faster delivery
Previously, especially when dealing with engine replacements, the process was rather laborious and extremely costly. You had to hand over a large deposit to Lycoming or Continental when the work was booked, and after that, it often took a long time before the deposit was returned from the U.S. Using our new centre, the deposit required is considerably smaller and the delivery time is much faster. Norvic has a large selection of exchange engines in stock which ensures a reliable and fast delivery. In addition, the UK prices are incredibly hard to compete against, (the average hourly rate is lower than in the Scandinavian countries) so it pays to send them back and forth.
Greater capacity
'As some might know, we have our own engine workshop here at Air Service Vamdrup where we also perform overhauls and engine repairs but it is a small workshop with a limited capacity.' Torben explains. 'Through cooperating with Norvic, we are now able to serve many more customers that previously we had to turn away.'
