SkyTrac Systems, the world's trusted supplier of satcom aviation solutions is pleased to introduce their new aviation Wi-Fi product that complements existing flight following systems and simplifies the Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) process. This hardware is used in combination with SkyTrac's smartphone application to increase messaging and dialing capabilities throughout the aircraft. Aircrew and passengers can use the device to stay connected on their smartphones during flight. The lightweight, compact device is specifically designed for the aviation market and is DO-160G certified and STC approved for installation.
Wi-Fi enables flight data and flight logs recorded by SkyTrac's on-board satcom transceiver to be sent wirelessly to SkyWeb post-flight, so no manual interaction is needed for the collection of this data from a USB port, which reduces pilot and crew workload. When used with a smartphone, real time in-flight capabilities include sending messages, checking system status and dialing voice calls. Wi-Fi is used in combination with SkyTrac's ISAT- 200A, ISAT-200R and DSAT transceivers.
“We are pleased to introduce our aviation Wi-Fi to the aviation market and believe it will be of great benefit for our customers. This product will enable total connectivity in the cabin as well as the cockpit, streamline operations and increase efficiency for our clients – a major focus for our team,” noted SkyTrac president and ceo Malachi Nordine.
