Organized by Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI) and its Chinese partner China Business Aviation Group, the "2013 JSSI China Business Aircraft Management and Maintenance Conference" was successfully held in Lijiang, Yunnan China on November 14th - 16th, 2013.

More than sixty people from jet management companies, finance and leasing companies, MROs and end-user aviation department teams attended the conference.

Since the beginning of 2008, the China business aviation industry has developed rapidly and become the world's fastest-growing market which has attracted worldwide attention. But this is just the beginning of a multi-year, high-growth cycle. Business aviation is a young industry in China and there is much to be learned from well-developed markets in the West. This conference promoted the exchange of ideas and solutions in business aircraft maintenance and management, and provided an opportunity for new Chinese entrants to learn from their western colleagues.

Mr. John Crane, JSSI chief finance officer, gave a welcome remark, followed by CAAC officer, Mr. Liu Zhi from the continuing airworthiness department who discussed current continued airworthiness requirements. The core presentation was made by JSSI EMEAA director, sales & technical services, Mr. Mark Winzar to offer the audience a comprehensive presentation about JSSI and its programs.

Two major local operators, Beijing Airlines and Deer Jet, sent their vice general managers of maintenance, Mr. Zhang Xueheng and Mr. Li Haokui to talk about topics on aircraft maintenance cost control and how to build a professional aircraft maintenance facility. Mr. Jason Liao, the chairman and ceo of China Business Aviation Group, analyzed the current status of China's business aviation market. The focal point of this conference was to discuss the problems from an end user's perspective. Ms Tang Fen from Sany Group brought up the challenges they face during the process of aircraft acquisition.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Mark Winzar continued to explain how JSSI supports their customers 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Even though a CAMP representative wasn't able to attend the conference, Mr. Emil Pope, JSSI director of business development for Asia Pacific, introduced the CAMP maintenance tracking program for most of local operator/manager companies in the audience. The host also invited Mr. Steve Hughes, director of maintenance & engineering of Metrojet, to share his experience about how to interact with an MRO facility. Mr. Ma Feng from King and Wood Mallesons followed with a speech about legal considerations when buying aircraft and vice president of CIT, Ms. Jolie Howard, discussed the asset protection considerations from a financial and leasing perspective. In the end, Mr. Carlos Gomez, ceo of TAG Aviation Asia, summarized the benefit of aircraft maintenance programs from an operator's side.

This aircraft management and maintenance conference, presented by JSSI and its partner China Business Aviation Group was the first to be held in China. The conference promoted mutual understanding of the industry from views of operators, aircraft finance and leasing companies, MROs and owners, and shared the current status and challenges of the China business aircraft management and maintenance market at the present stage. The conference will have a profound impact on the China business aviation market.

Meanwhile, the conference nominated an award named “2013 JSSI User's Choice Awards (of Greater China)”, including “Best Management Company”, “Best Financial Leasing Company”, “Best Maintenance Facility”, the result will be published at ABACE 2014 in Shanghai, China.
