Leading private jet company, Centreline Air Charter, has become one of the first operators in the UK to gain CAA approval and to become fully compliant with the new P-RNAV (Precision Area Navigation) standards enabling its aircraft to operate into Europe's main airports which no longer accept non-compliant business jet charter aircraft.
Amsterdam Schiphol became the first airport in Europe to allow only aircraft which fully meet the new P-RNAV standards, followed quickly by London Heathrow, Gatwick, Zürich, Vienna International, Stockholm-Arlanda, Brussels, Malpensa, Nice Côte d'Azur and Faro airports with many more in consultation. The standards were introduced to improve traffic flow, increase airport capacity and to narrow the flight corridor of approaching and departing aircraft.
Centreline Air Charter, which is part of the Bristol Flying Centre (BFC) Group, operates five Citation Jets that are all now fully compliant with the P-RNAV standards, following a rigorous training schedule for crew which included computer based training, ground school, and flight training.
Commenting on the approval, BFC director, Phil Brockwell said “Centreline Air Charter reacted quickly when learning of the restrictions these European airports were planning to impose. It was critical that there were no limits placed on our customers wishing to fly to these key destinations and we are delighted that we have become one of the first operators to be awarded this approval and to meet the standards of P-RNAV. If we had not had such a well-equipped training facility in-house, the speed in which we have reached this stage would have not been possible”.
