Free app puts travel risk management at pilot's fingertips

MedAire today announced the availability of a free app for iPad for flight departments around the world. MedAire Trip Ready for business and general aviation provides the information pilots and crew need to assess and mitigate travel and safety risks for their itineraries.

“While there are over 600 aviation apps on the market associated with flight planning, we realized there was a major gap when it came to assisting crew and passengers on those flights,” says Grant Jeffery, ceo of MedAire. “The MedAire app for iPad is the first of its kind focused on the health and travel safety for the people on those missions.”

MedAire Trip Ready displays content based on a user's destinations of interest and upcoming itineraries. Pilots and flight departments can see at a glance the medical and travel risk ratings, local time, current weather, and Notams for each destination on the dashboard.

Medical, security, and travel information relating to each destination, including a calendar of holidays and events that may affect a mission, is also provided based on a user's MedAire Membership Level.

Proactive advisories alert users to events that may affect their itinerary or personal wellbeing at the selected destinations. Users are alerted to disease outbreaks, civil unrest, natural disasters and other events along with a synopsis of the event and advice to mitigate the risk.

Aviation Travel Security Briefs provide an overview of medical and security considerations in the vicinity of the airport and may be downloaded and emailed through the app. The briefs are available based on MedAire Membership Level.

MedAire Trip Ready also provides extensive resources for members during flights. A quick reference checklist is available to aid users with responding to medical events that occur in-flight, as well as information on the medical kits that may be onboard their aircraft.

All users have access to further information on their destinations by ICAO airport code, including nearby lodging & dining options, conversion calculators (currency, distance, temperature), and a feature to add personal notes about their itinerary. A weather tab includes information on temperature, visibility, winds, METAR and TAF.

Medical, security and travel information is cached on a user's iPad ensuring this vital information is accessible even without Wi-Fi.

MedAire Trip Ready is available on the App Store and will be demonstrated at the MedAire Booth, # N3513, at NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas, October 22 – 24.
