October 1, 2013
Jota Aviation is pleased to announce that is has been nominated in the 'Best General Aviation Operator' category at the Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) Awards.
The British concern will face stiff opposition to secure the accolade, with several larger and longer-established operators also in the running. award winners will be announced during a lunch ceremony at London's Guild Hall on Thursday (3 October), with Jota Aviation also competing for 'Best Cargo Airline'.
"It is an honour to be nominated to for an award as prestigious as this," commented commercial director Andy Green. "These are exciting times for Jota Aviation, with new additions to our fleet soon to be announced. Watch this space!"
Jota Aviation is also pleased to confirm further details of its Broker to Racer challenge, more information on which can be found here.
Held at karting circuit Buckmore Park in May, the initiative sought to transform a broker into a racing driver with the help of Le Mans 24 Hours outfit Jota Sport. It proved a great success, with Ed Gillet of Air Charter Service eventually claiming victory after a thrilling and close-fought duel with Jet Hire Direct's Richard Worthington.
However, Ed has graciously elected to hand his place over after changing jobs in the interim, meaning Richard is now set to race in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship at Silverstone on 19/20 September.
Meanwhile Jota's own racing squad was in action last weekend when the all-British duo of Simon Dolan and Oliver Turvey contested the season-closing European Le Mans Series round in France. The pair retained an outside shot at the title ahead of the event, and were given a further boost when Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 Test Driver Turvey secured their fourth pole position from five races.
Unfortunately the team would suffer a rare technical problem during the race when a sticking throttle made driving their Zytek-Nissan increasingly difficult. As such they were pleased to make the finish, with Dolan doing a sterling job to steer the car to third place during the final stint.
