Rockwell Collins today unveiled a series of new features for its Ascend Flight Operations System (FOS®) schedule and dispatch solution that provides business aircraft operators with greater access to real-time flight information and essential data for quicker, more effective planning.
The new FOS features include a highly integrated flight tracking tool, an enhanced trip request module and a filtering option for airport databases.
“This is a terrific package that goes the next step in providing our customers with a clear visual of their flight, along with conditions to be aware of along the flight path,” said Steve Timm, vice president and general manager, Flight Information Solutions for Rockwell Collins. “It also makes it even easier for subscribers to easily obtain information they need for smooth trip planning.”
Rockwell Collins is the only company that seamlessly connects schedule and dispatch capability with flight planning and other flight services to create an end-to-end solution that lowers the total cost of ownership and enhances efficiency for any-sized flight department.
The new flight tracking option, a key highlight of the new release (3.9.17), is enabled by a high level of integration between FOS and Rockwell Collins' Ascend Flight Manager. It allows FOS users with a Rockwell Collins data link subscription to view their aircraft's position in flight, as well as the flight path of completed and upcoming flights.
The dynamic page, easily viewed on large flight department monitors, lets users overlay satellite and U.S. radar data to display where an aircraft is in relation to adverse weather. In addition, FOS trips can be updated with Gate Out, Wheels Off, Wheels On and Gate In times and other flight-following updates in real time.
The upgrade also includes a new, easy-to-use trip request module for FOS Enterprise subscribers that provides all the necessary information for approving trips and assuring aircraft and crew availability prior to scheduling.
Additional features include new filtering options for the FOS airport database and the ability to add multiple tax rates within a trip quote.
FOS version 3.9.17 is available for download from www.flightmanager.com or the FOS ftp site.
