Press Release
Issued by Cambridge City Airport.
May 20, 2013
Cambridge Airport UK, managed by Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, will go out to tender this summer for the building of a new runway (estimated cost circa £16 million) and a £1 million fuel farm. It is embarking on this as it prepares to enhance its infrastructure in readiness for bolstered business aviation and international scheduled airline activity. The new runway will be capable of handling up to Boeing 767/vip sized aircraft.
Just last week Cambridge Airport opened a dedicated new £1 million new passenger terminal, complete with a JETability branded vip business lounge. It features a spacious check in area, all new IT infrastructure, security screening and coffee shop. It opened in time to welcome seasonal charter flights to Jersey last week and today in Geneva, on the opening day of Europe's premier aviation show, EBACE, the airport is pleased to announce the start of four new scheduled routes by European regional alliance carrier Darwin Airline SA of Switzerland.
Marshall's investment in the dedicated scheduled passenger terminal at Cambridge Airport forms part of a previously announced overall £20 million plan pledged by the Group as it widens its footprint in commercial and business aviation.
Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group ceo Steve Fitz-Gerald and Steve Jones will be talking up the benefits of Cambridge Airport for business aviation and the Group's heightened capabilities in a wide range of aerospace disciplines at the Marshall Group Stand No 1019 at EBACE in Geneva during May 21-23rd.
FlairJet now part of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group
Marshall Aviation Services' charter arm will present a new look at EBACE – combining the philosophies and strengths of the combined Marshall Executive Aviation and new family member FlairJet. London Oxford Airport based FlairJet was acquired by Marshall in March and in June it will fully absorb the AOC of MEA. FlairJet and MEA, now headed by managing director David Fletcher, has been swift to reap the benefits of having an Oxbridge, UK base. The MEA Cessna XLS and Citation Bravo are now under FlairJet's managed aircraft fleet, based at Cambridge, with the Challenger 300 following in June.
FlairJet has brought a strong relationship with Embraer to Marshall. It has just agreed to provide a delivery flight of an 8th Phenom 300 to Cologne, Germany, due to take place next month. This takes the total number of aircraft deliveries made by the FlairJet team to 24.
Second Phenom 100 joins the managed fleet – based in Bari, Italy
This week too, FlairJet is adding a second Phenom 100 to the fleet. G-LGMG will be based in Bari, Italy under management for a private owner.
New JETability brand
Marshall's new JETability - the customer-focused, “one call, one team” brand which embraces all Marshall capabilities in the business aviation sector covering aircraft management, maintenance, MRO, chartering, sales, concierge and consultancy through its bespoke call centre will also be promoted at EBACE.
Its pre-owned sales arm, led by sales director Howard Povey, the former Hawker Beechcraft senior sales executive has been adding to its pre-owned sales portfolio. It recently added two Agusta 109 executive helicopters, a Hawker 850 and just concluded the sale of a Cessna Citation.
