NetJets Europe promotes 500th captain

NetJets Europe, Europe's leading business jet company, today announced the promotion of NetJets Transportes AƩreos' 500th Captain; Jan Dam.

Jan, who is from The Netherlands, joined the company in April 2006 and flies the Hawker 800XP. Prior to joining NetJets, Jan spent 18 years in the Royal Netherlands Air Force flying F16's and in various management positions. His last rank was Lieutenant Colonel.

Jan Dam said: "I love the variety of flying with NetJets, I like that no two days are the same, it is never dull and it's always different. I very much enjoy being captain and couldn't ask for better crew to work with. I've been very happy here so far and would recommend a career with NetJets Europe to anyone.

"It's also great that there are so many Gateways to choose from. Mine is Amsterdam and it always has been but having that flexibility to change is a big plus."

NetJets Europe crew can live at 44 different gateways across Western and Central Europe. Overall the company employs pilots from 27 European nations, including France, Belgium, the UK, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

With rapid expansion in the business aviation sector NetJets Europe provides an exciting career path for pilots.

Last year the company received over 5,000 applications from prospective pilots and hired only the top 341 applicants. This means it accepts only one in 14 pilots.

Pilots are attracted to the business because of its strong work/life balance (six days on/five days off rosters), a superior compensation and benefits package, its commitment to excellence and the flexibility to live all over Europe.

NetJets Europe's commitment to pilot training has seen it attract many highly qualified pilots amidst a worldwide pilot shortage.

Director of Flight Operations Joe Bauer said: "Our rigorous pilot selection process and continuous training program demonstrates our commitment to the highest level of safety.

He added: "Jan is reflective of the strength of our Captains throughout the company who I have full confidence in out on the line. We have an incredible team of pilots at NetJets Europe."

All pilots start at NetJets as first officers regardless of previous experience or command time. Pilots must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight time to be considered for direct entry first officer positions. First officers must have 3,000 hours of flight time and be recommended by their fleet manager to be eligible for upgrade to captain.
