Press Release
Issued by Shanghai MRO.
April 17, 2013
The Department of Civil Aviation from Bermuda has approved Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre (SHPBASC) as an Aircraft Maintenance Organisation. The DCA inspected the facility in February with approval being granted in early March.
The added capability for SHPBASC allows them to build upon their previous approvals by China's Airworthiness Authority, the CAAC, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Cayman Islands, and approvals for maintenance for aircraft from Hong Kong and Macau.
“The Bermuda approval puts us in an ideal position to service the steady influx of Bermudan registered aircraft transiting through China. It adds a full international flavor to the local maintenance operations, and will allow operators to start operating with increased confidence in and out of the country,” according to the facilities deputy general manager, Dr. Lu Xin.
SHPBASC is a joint venture between Shanghai Airport Authority and Hawker Pacific. Shanghai Airport Authority is the owner and operator of Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport. Hawker Pacific is a market leader in integrated civil and military aerospace sales and product support in South East Asia, Australia, the Pacific and the Middle East and is one of the largest independent companies of its type in the region with nearly 600 employees. The company's customers include airlines, commuter, corporate, general aviation, rotary wing and special mission operators, governments and the military.
Since the joint venture in Shanghai opening in April of 2010, the company has established some of the key components for business aviation to thrive in China. Becoming the first MRO dedicated to business aviation in 2011, it has continually added to its capabilities in the last three years.
SHPBASC and its 4,000 square meter maintenance facility are located at Shanghai's Hongqiao International Airport, with the maintenance facility located adjacent to Shanghai's first FBO. The FBO opened in April 2010 and has been providing service to China's business aviation community since.
ABACE was last hosted at Shanghai Hawker Pacific Aviation Service Centre between March 27th and March 29th 2012 and this year ABACE 2013 will be at the facility between April 16th and April 18th.
