Press Release
Issued by Shanghai FBO.
April 10, 2013
For the second year in a row, Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre (SHPBASC) is the site for the annual Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE). Construction is underway at the Shanghai FBO location on Hongqiao International Airport in preparation for the show opening on the 16th of April 2013.
The facility's 4000 square metre hangar will accommodate a number of exhibitors and, due to the increased demand for space, the exhibition will double the amount of exterior tent space for 2013. Construction for the event started in late March.
“We are open for business at the FBO and now and throughout the exhibition. April is usually our second busiest month of the year,” according to Carey Matthews, general manager for SHPBASC. “The show requires a major logistical effort to set up, but we are keeping the FBO open throughout. The MRO continues to work on our North ramp area. With clever scheduling and working together, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), SHPBASC, and Hongqiao Airport are accomplishing what is arguably the most logistically challenging show NBAA conducts anywhere in the world to happen relatively smoothly.”
Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre is a joint venture between Shanghai Airport Authority and Hawker Pacific. Shanghai Airport Authority is the owner and operator of Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport. Since the joint venture in Shanghai opened in April of 2010, the company has established some of the key components for business aviation to thrive in China. Becoming the first MRO dedicated to business aviation in 2011, it recently earned FAA approval as a Foreign Repair Station. Additionally, it has added approvals from the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Hong Kong, and Macau.
ABACE was last hosted at Shanghai Hawker Pacific Aviation Service Centre between March 27th and March 29th 2012.
