RUAG Aviation delivers first vip completion project

A Bombardier CRJ200 airliner has been successfully converted into a ten-seat luxury vip aircraft by RUAG Aviation's cabin interior program.

RUAG Aviation has strengthened its capabilities by establishing a centre of excellence for cabin interior modifications and upgrades at Munich Executive Airport, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Since 2011, the cabin interior program has been under the leadership of Robin Freigang, RUAG Aviation's director cabin interior program vip & executive jets, and offers state-of-the-art vip cabin interior design, completions, refurbishments, restyling and modifications, as well as passenger comfort systems, cabin communication systems and multimedia in-flight entertainment (IFE) system upgrades.

A pioneering venture for the company, this cabin completion project involved revamping the entire layout configuration, interior design and electronics system to create a modern and comfortable environment for up to ten passengers. A private vip area, a club seating and dining area as well as a lounge equipped with the latest IFE systems have been installed. The newly integrated wireless cabin entertainment systems is running a browser based application that allows passengers to control audio, video, cabin lighting and electric window shades via their tablets or smartphones.

“This project was a perfect match for us right from the beginning, and thanks to the right team spirit and our certified specialists, we have managed this conversion in a remarkably short down time and at a competitive price” said Robin Freigang, RUAG Aviation's director cabin interior program vip & executive jets. “Our team established the interior design package and detailed project specifications very efficiently. We developed a strong relationship with the customer throughout the entire process, which I believe is key to the success of any project. Additionally, this helps us to manufacture and deliver the customer's desired product right from the start. We are very proud of the fantastic result – this is an absolutely beautiful aircraft with a unique interior and exterior design.”

“For RUAG Aviation, this project represents a successful launch into the European completion market, where we will be providing personalised designs and full customisation with minimal cost and downtime.” Ulli Gehling, RUAG's general manager business aviation, said. “Reliable cabin completion programs offer multiple benefits: In addition to being more affordable than purchasing a new vip jet, converting an existing airliner provides owners with the comforts of a large cabin as well as the flexibility to tailor the interior of their aircraft to their individual tastes. This is in keeping with our one-stop-shop philosophy. The next projects are already lined up, and we are looking forward to any new challenges that the future might bring.”

RUAG Aviation is a certified Part 21J EASA Design Organisation, Part 21G EASA Production Organisation, Part 145 EASA Maintenance Organisation. Exterior livery and vip paint services are also available to the company's customers.
