December 13, 2012
Isle of Man based aviation structuring specialist, Katherine Ellis, has announced the forthcoming launch of Boston Group's aviation administration services at the Middle East Business Aviation (MEBA) event in Dubai from 11-13 December 2012.
Boston, an independent and family owned financial services group, provides services to the business and private aviation industry through offices in both the Isle of Man and Malta. The Isle of Man is synonymous with business aviation thanks to the huge success of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry (M Register), while Malta is fast becoming a European hub for aviation business, in particular private aviation. This is due to its attractive regulatory and fiscal framework and its recent announcement concerning the VAT treatment of aircraft leasing arrangements.
Katherine Ellis, Director, commented on the launch: "I'm very excited to be attending MEBA on behalf of Boston Group and that we are using this key event in the business aviation calendar as a platform to launch our services to the industry. We have a wealth of industry knowledge in both our Isle of Man and Malta offices, including VAT planning, corporate structuring, aircraft registration and administration, and we believe we are ideally placed to offer these services to internationally based private and business aircraft owners. The Isle of Man "M register" has seen exponential growth since its establishment in 2007 and we are proud to be able to support the Government by working with Hartley Elder, Director of Civil Aviation, and his team to continue to grow this important area of the Island's business."
Katherine will be supported in MEBA by Chris Borg, Managing Director of Boston Malta, who is leading the way with the development of aircraft administration services in Malta. Chris, who recently joined Boston from KPMG, commented on the attractiveness of Malta to the private aviation industry particularly with regards to VAT: "The new Maltese guidelines relating to the VAT treatment of aircraft leasing are modelled on the VAT regime for yacht leasing, which has proved immensely popular and which we have experience of applying seamlessly and successfully for several years. These guidelines are ideal for private or business jets which do not qualify for VAT exemption since they are not used by airlines operating for reward chiefly on international routes. Malta's attractive regulatory and tax regime for aviation, coupled with the knowledge base and professional administration services we offer, make Boston and Malta a very appealing option for our clients."
