Honeywell delivers first Ovation Select cabin management system to Middle East

Honeywell Aerospace, in partnership with Jet Aviation Basel, has delivered its first Ovation Select Cabin Management System (CMS) to a Middle East customer operating a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 3. Honeywell's delivery of the system includes product certification of Ovation Select by the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA).

Honeywell's Ovation Select is an all-digital, state-of-the-art cabin management system that provides passengers with the ultimate in in-flight entertainment, productivity and business connectivity. The milestone delivery of Ovation Select is the result of a partnership between Honeywell's in-region project team and Jet Aviation Basel, which led the aircraft completion project. The aircraft also includes Honeywell's MCS-7200 satellite communications system.

The certification of Ovation Select by EASA builds on the system's existing Federal Aviation Administration Supplemental Type Certificates for Dassault Falcon 900, BBJ, Gulfstream G550 and Embraer 650 aircraft. With a significant number of BBJs and "VVIP" business jets in operation across the region, the first delivery of Ovation Select to the Middle East signals growing customer demand for the latest in-flight entertainment and most advanced connectivity systems on the market. Ovation Select's advanced features include the following:

· Seamless in-flight connectivity, whether travelers are connected through their smartphone, laptop or tablet, to Honeywell's SATCOM system for in-cabin data streaming via satellite.

· JetMap HD, a 3-D full high-definition (1080p) moving map application that allows passengers to view their flight path from up to 14 different perspectives and zoom in on the terrain below using worldwide 15-meter-resolution satellite imagery.

· Real-time images from a range of exterior cameras around the aircraft displayed on the main bulkhead LCD displays, or 9-inch at-seat HD monitors. Passengers can also control lighting, seats, temperature, galley calls and window shades, all from the comfort of their seats.

· A modular, lightweight and flexible design that reduces operational costs and provides high-quality, crystal-clear surround sound audio, vivid full high-definition (1080p) Blu-ray video, and digital communication distribution throughout the cabin.

· All-digital architecture and Ethernet backbone, which reduces installation time versus competing systems, and facilitates an end-to-end self-diagnostic health monitoring and troubleshooting capability. Ovation Select can be scaled from general aviation aircraft up to and including air transport category "VVIP" business and personal aircraft.

Victor Valente, Vice President, Business and General Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace EMEAI commented "Completing our first Middle East delivery for Ovation Select alongside one of the world's leading completion firms in Jet Aviation is an important milestone in the region. VIP passengers expect the very best in in-flight entertainment, productivity and connectivity, and with EASA certification of Ovation Select in place, it's now easier than ever for operators in the region to enjoy the best cabin experience possible."

Neil Boyle, Vice President Completions, Jet Aviation Basel stated "Our customer required the ultimate BBJ 737 interior, and Honeywell's Ovation Select is an integral component that makes such an interior possible. Through our close working partnership with Honeywell's European project team we have been able to complete the EASA certification process of Ovation Select on time and provide our customer with one of the most advanced BBJ cabins in the world."

Honeywell is showcasing its complete business aviation portfolio at MEBA 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from Dec. 11–13 at booth No. 625.
