Jetlogic proud to help cancer appeal girl Vanessa Riddle

Private aviation firm Jetlogic are proud to be involved in helping Ayrshire girl Vanessa Riddle with her medical transport needs as she travels between a hospital in Germany and her home in Scotland.

Twelve-year-old Vanessa has been receiving potentially life-saving stem cell treatment in Stuttgart. Diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, her condition means that her immune system is low and travelling on a scheduled flight could expose her to infection from other passengers.

Working with Air Charter Scotland, Jota Aviation and Ocean Sky FBO at Prestwick, Edinburgh-based Jetlogic have helped Vanessa and her family to fly privately between Stuttgart and Prestwick Airport three times since the beginning of October. A fourth flight is being arranged for next week.

Leigh Wilson, CEO of Jetlogic, first heard of Vanessa's plight via a family connection. Her late father worked with Vanessa's grandfather as an air traffic controller. Once she learned of the situation, Miss Wilson moved swiftly to help.

"I spoke with Air Charter Scotland and we worked together to donate a flight to get Vanessa home from Stuttgart after her first course of treatment," said Wilson. "We were happy to help because she is such an inspiration."

Vanessa's story has spread widely thanks to a campaign in The Daily Record newspaper and through the Riddle family's own social media network. Vanessa's Twitter account has nearly 40,000 followers and every step of her journey attracts huge attention.

Wilson commented, "Helping Vanessa has been such a rewarding experience. I haven't met her but, through her Tweets, her followers' messages and reports from her family, we get a real sense of what this help means to Vanessa and those who support her."

Speaking to The Daily Record, Vanessa's father Chris said, "Nothing seems to get her down. She just gets on with her life. She's an inspiration to me and her mum and I think to everyone else as well. She is amazing and we are so proud of her. I cannot thank Jet Logic, Air Charter Scotland and Jota Aviation enough for what they have done."

Working towards the ultimate aim of Vanessa's recovery has been a unifying experience for Jetlogic and their partners. Wilson said. "We have been delighted with the generosity of the operators involved and we have all pulled together to do the best we can for Vanessa. Helping in cases like this is its own reward but it can also help show the caring, human face of the private aviation industry."
