Mechtronix today announced that Susi Air has successfully completed the installation and qualification process of their Mechtronix FFT X™. The unit, replicating the Cessna Grand Caravan, was qualified in equivalence with JAR FSTD A FTD 2 / FNPT ll MCC by the Civil Aviation Authorities of the Republic of Indonesia (DGCA).
Susi Air is proud to now own two Mechtronix simulators for their newly built training center in Pangandaran, West Java. The first device, an Ascent® Flight Trainer ™ replicating the C172, allowed them to transfer a considerable number of basic training hours from their aircraft. With the acquisition and qualification of the Cessna Grand Caravan FFT X™, the Susi Air Training Center will enable their pilots and instructors to focus and train without restrictions while experiencing an exceptionally high level of fidelity.
The cadet pilots, coming to Pangandaran from all over the world, are understandably excited to begin their training at Susi Training Cente on the lush coast of Indonesia. The students will benefit from world-class training that will prepare them to fly in the Asia-Pacific regionwhere difficult flying environments await these newly trained pilots; such as mountainous terrain, tropical weather and small landing strips in confined or hazardous areas. The FFT X™ can simulate these situations thanks partly to the FFTX's Level D compliant collimated visual system that allows the cadet pilots to experience situations usually deemed too hazardous to train in an actual aircraft.
The FFT X™ is part of Mechtronix' Train@home business model, which allows training centers to avoid the high costs traditionally associated with sending pilots abroad for training. It is a smart alternative to the Full Flight Simulator, as it includes all the same features as the FFS in a fixed-based environment at a fraction of the price.
