August 20, 2012
Russian Helicopters, part of state defence holding company Oboronprom and a leading global designer and manufacturer of helicopters, announces its participation in the eighth international aerospace salon AviaSvit-XXI, which will take place from 27 September to 1 October 2012 at the Kiev Antonov airfield in the Gostomel suburb of Kiev. The Russian Helicopters display will be located at stand no. 115.
AviaSvit-XXI is supported by the Ukrainian authorities including the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Infrastructure, as well as by leading Ukrainian companies. The seventh AviaSvit-XXI in 2010 attracted 283 companies from 32 countries, along with more than 170,000 visitors, according to organisers.
AviaSvit-XXI showcases a wide variety of the latest aerospace technology, with demonstrations of the latest advances in equipment, materials and processes for machine-building, as well as numerous demonstration flights. There are also conferences and seminars on aerospace issues, and meetings and round tables for industry specialists.
Russian Helicopters plans to exhibit popular models in demand in different applications worldwide, and also to show a number of its advanced developments. On display will be the search-and-rescue Ka-32A11BC, the light Ka-226T as used for medical operations, and the Ansat and new Mi-171A2 and Ka-62.
Experts say that the Ka-32A11BC is one of the best rescue and fire-fighting helicopters on the global marketplace today. The Ka-32A11BC's coaxial framework comes into its own when operating in turbulent conditions, by effectively stabilising the helicopter when hovering. Helicopters with coaxial systems are easier to pilot in strong updrafts.
The light Ka-226T with Turbomeca Arrius 2G2 engines is ideally suited to urban conditions, which is particularly important for medial operations. The helicopter's coaxial rotor system offers high thrust and rapid climbing capabilities, increasing its ceiling and lifting capacity.
The light multi-role Ansat with Pratt&Whitney PW 207K engines can carry both cargo and passengers, and is suitable for used in observation, search-and-rescue and medevac missions. The Ansat has the largest cabin in its class with versatile options for layout arrangements. The roomy cabin with its wide sliding door can carry up to eight passengers in comfort, and can also transport a maximum of equipment in its specially adapted configurations.
The Mi-171A2 is the latest version of the Mi-8/17 family. It combines the best qualities of its famous predecessors, and also opens up new possibilities for use thanks to the use of leading-edge technologies and equipment. More than 80 improvements were made to the Mi-8/17 during development of the Mi-171A2. All of the innovations are based on the latest advances in global helicopter construction, detailed analysis of the demands of helicopter operators and the Mi-8/17's long operating experience in different regions around the world.
The new light multi-role Ka-62 is a single-rotor design, with an enclosed multi-bladed tail rotor. The rotor blades and airframe are 60% made of polymeric composites. It is designed for cargo transportation, medical and observation missions, and can be used in the oil-and-gas sector and for air-ambulance operations and corporate purposes.
During AviaSvit-XXI Russian Helicopters will hold a conference on the company's new approaches to servicing and maintenance of Russian-manufactured helicopters. The company also plans to discuss its new system for certificating repair and service centres.
