August 2012 marks the landmark 30th anniversary for one of Europe's leading private jet operators, Twinjet Aviation. The company was founded in 1982 by chairman John Keeble and original co-founder Paula Downes as Twinjet Aviation Limited at London Luton Airport where the company maintains a permanent base and operations department.
Twinjet originally began as an international aircraft brokerage. Over the last 30 years, the company has developed into aircraft management and subsequently aircraft operations with the opening of a dedicated operations department in 1999. Today, Twinjet is divided into two companies, Aircraft Sales and Twinjet Aircraft. In 2005, Twinjet founded their sister business, The Charter Company based in central London, to provide international charter services to the City and beyond.
Twinjet has 30 years proven expertise in providing world class aviation services and is the UK's longest established private jet operator, flying one of the most advanced and luxurious fleets in the market and operating to destinations worldwide. During this time, Twinjet has set the benchmark for private aviation and has achieved a number of aviation firsts in the UK. In 1999, Twinjet was issued with a Public Transport Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and a Type A operating licence by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, the only UK-based private jet operator to be awarded this licence, certifying the company to the same operating standards as commercial airlines. Twinjet was also the first ever UK operator of the Airbus A319 type and currently has an ACJ and a Bombardier Challenger CL604 under full aircraft management.
Aircraft sales remains at the core of the business and Twinjet have successfully sold over 115 private jet aircraft to date. In the past year alone, Twinjet Aviation has completed the sale of three corporate jets demonstrating their proven expertise in this area. In 2008 Twinjet Aircraft established its first overseas base in Dubai, in the UAE. Established to serve existing clients in the Middle East Region and also to enable the company to extend aircraft sales and management services into Asia, the former Soviet Union and the Far East.
2012 sees Twinjet Aviation and The Charter Company continue to expand both in the UK and internationally. Chairman John Keeble comments "When we launched Twinjet in 1982, we began business with one telephone and one aircraft to sell. We are now an international and multilingual team of aviation professionals with offices around the world. I'm proud of our experienced and dynamic staff who have all helped contribute to Twinjet's success and we look forward to the future".
