Gestair Aviation Training becomes EASA Part 147 certified centre

Gestair Aviation Training, a business unit within Gestair Group dedicated to aeronautical training, recently became an EASA Part 147 certified centre, leading to the creation of a new division for training type-specific aircraft-maintenance technicians and authorised by the National Air Safety Agency (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea - AESA).

The training organisations that have obtained this accreditation are allowed to teach training courses leading to licences in the field of airworthiness maintenance, in addition to conducting the corresponding tests for these licences. As a result, this new accreditation has made it necessary to create a new division within the Aviation Training area, dubbed Gestair Maintenance Training.

In Spain there are two classes of authorisation linked to this certification: the Basic Class, which is held by 11 centres, and the Type-Specific Class, which is held by nine centres. Gestair is now one of the nine Type-Specific Class authorised centres, covering:

At T1 level (for aircraft-maintenance technicians who are to work on the aircraft):

• The Cessna 525 and 525A, with the Williams FJ44 engine

• The Bombardier BD-700 (Global Express), with the RRD BR 710 engine

• The Falcon 2000, with the CFE-738 engine

At T4 level (for engineers or technical managers):

• The Gulfstream GV, with the RRD BR 710 engine

• The Gulfstream GV-SP (also known as the G550), with the RRD BR 710 engine

Gestair Maintenance Training is already working to broaden the scope of the authorisation, to cover new models of aeroplanes and helicopters.
