Press Release
Issued by Action Aviation.
May 14, 2012
Action Aviation, the international aviation marketing and services company, today signed an exclusive distribution agreement with AIRglide™ of the UK to sell its revolutionary new Nano-technology aircraft coatings product, Aviation Shield™. Action Aviation has offices in the UK, United States, Dubai and India, so is well placed to market this amazing new coating technology from AIRglide™ that has the potential to save the airline industry billions of dollars in fuel annually, not to mention reducing the carbon footprint of airliners.
Aviation Shield™ is approved by both Boeing and Airbus for application to all their aircraft, and is also AMS1650c approved. Each application of Aviation Shield™ to a particular aircraft is individually tested and certified by CSM Instruments of Switzerland for the amount of surface friction drag reduction actually achieved.
Aviation Shield™ also reduces the fuel burn on business jets, and extends the maximum range of all jets due to this increase in fuel efficiency. In recent trials on a Hawker 400XP, fuel savings of around 5% were observed.
Aviation Shield™ benefits an aircraft operator by:
• reducing fuel costs and carbon footprint
• reducing annual cleaning costs
• protecting against corrosion
• reducing ice build-up
• extending paint life
Aviation Shield™ is based on Nano-technology and uses molecules that enable it to cross-link and bond with surface materials such as aircraft paint, acrylic surfaces and aluminium leading edges. AIRglide™ products contain hard, durable acrylic particles which fill the 'pores' of the treated surface with a very thin resin, creating an incredibly smooth finish at the molecular level. The 'micro-barrier' created also reduces penetration and deposition by contaminants such as ice, dirt, oils, and other common surface contaminants.
Action Aviation Chairman, Hamish Harding, commented: "We are delighted to have been appointed by AIRglide™ to represent their innovative Aviation Shield™ nano-technology product. We welcome this addition to our portfolio of aviation services. In today's world of high fuel costs and emphasis on carbon emissions, we are particularly focusing Aviation Shield™ on the worldwide airline market, where fuel savings such as these can make all the difference to airline profit margins".
Charles Sandham, CEO of AIRglide, commented "We have applied this nano-technology product to various Boeing and Airbus aircraft and the percentage fuel burn savings achieved by the early customers of this product have been significant and the results have impressed the airlines concerned. We welcome this partnership with Action Aviation to take this exciting product to new airlines around the world".
