Coventry Airport partners with Blue City Aviation to handle expanding business aviation traffic

Coventry Airport has appointed Blue City Aviation to handle its FBO (Fixed Base Operations) with immediate effect.  The airport witnessed a 35% increase in private jet traffic in 2007 over the previous year and the appointment of Blue City Aviation highlights the significance of this growth.

"Business Aviation is an important and expanding industry sector," said Chris Orphanou, Coventry Airport's CEO.  "Our business strategy going forward includes bolstering the amount of corporate jet charters and with our 24/7 availability and our close proximity to all the major motorways, we have a real advantage in serving this buoyant fraternity.  Our costs are considerably lower too than the Londoncentric business aviation airports."

Blue City Aviation is now responsible for General and Business Aviation Services at the western end of the airport.  Facilities are in place to provide fast, discreet and efficient services 24/7.  Onward ground transportation, including chauffeur drive and executive car hire, can be organised on request, together with hotel accommodation for incoming passengers and flight crew.

Blue City Aviation has been based at Coventry Airport since 2004 and took over the FBO business at the beginning of this month.  Blue City Aviation offers a private lounge with refreshments and bar, wireless Internet facilities and satellite television.

Complementing the handling side is Blue City Engineering, which offers heated and secure hangar facilities at Coventry Airport for visiting private jets.  It is JAR/FAA approved on a number of popular business aircraft, including the Cessna Citation, Jetstream 31/32 and the Metroliner turboprop.  Line maintenance facilities are available for all types of modern business jets.

Kevin Perry, Blue City Aviation's Managing Director said:  "We are delighted to handle  the FBO facilities at Coventry Airport, extending our existing, excellent working relationship.  We are committed to provide our customers with the high levels of service they expect and are planning further, enhanced bespoke amenities in the immediate future."

During the past year Coventry Airport's Executive Management has put in place an extensive forward thinking development plan.  To date almost £10m has been invested in improvements to the Airport.  The management team remains confident that it will get the necessary approval to go ahead with the construction of a new terminal, which will increase the capacity for passenger throughput from 0.98 million to two million passengers per annum.  The High Court hearing has been brought forward to 21 July this year.
