Cello Aviation readies for sporty summer with a classic look

Cello Aviation, the operator that flew Her Majesty the Queen on her state visit to Ireland in 2011, is ready for a busy summer of sport. It will be providing transport for an international football team as they begin their quest to win Euro 2012, and the crew will be wearing their new uniforms.

Cello, based in Birmingham, already has international and top European teams from the Barclays Premier League and France amongst its clients. The airline, which operates a luxury appointed BAE 146, will also be carrying members of the Great Britain Olympic team taking part in the Olympic Games in the summer.

Cello has established a niche providing air travel for top football stars but also includes in its portfolio of clients international musicians from the world of pop and rock music, corporate businesses as well and UK and royalty from other parts of the world. Cello's aircraft is large enough to carry a team and support staff along with its kit and other equipment.

The cabin crew team with Cello Aviation are wearing new uniforms for 2012 provided by a tailor just a few miles from their base at Birmingham International Airport. When the company, that also includes global brands and Royals amongst its clients, wanted a new uniform it found the answer on its own doorstep. The airline worked with Slaters, a long established tailor, in Cannon Street, Birmingham, to design and make its new in flight uniform. Now the crew are taking to the skies in their business style suits comprising white shirts, ties for men, scarf for women, white shirt or blouse, waist coast, dark skirts or trousers and jacket.

"Finding a new uniform for the Cello Aviation flight crew and cabin crew was a very emotive experience," said Dean Hull, cabin services manager with Cello Aviation. "Everyone had an idea on what it should be like and they were never the same. What we did agree on was that the uniform should portray our professional corporate image as well as being comfortable and practical for working onboard our VIP aircraft. Slaters was selected and after working with us we have ended up with a uniform to be proud of and to keep the Cello Aviation crew at the forefront of the industry."

Providing the airline uniform was also a first for the company that has been based in Birmingham for 16 years. "We are delighted to be working with Cello Aviation and look forward to a long and successful relationship," said David Mann, manager of the Birmingham store.

Cello Aviation has a policy of using local suppliers whenever practicable. "Our customers are from all over the UK and Europe but we are also very much part of the local business community in Birmingham and the West Midlands," said Nim Baines, chief executive officer of the airline. "We pride ourselves with providing more than 20 direct jobs and many more indirectly in this area."

Cello Aviation operates a BAE 146 ideally suited to operate into small airports such as London City. Its cabin crew can serve hot and cold VIP menus from its galley using meals made from wherever possible fresh local ingredients. The 46 beige leather seats have a pitch of 43 inches which is substantially greater than first class on international carriers and the aircraft can also be branded with the livery of its corporate clients. Cello can also carry up to 3,000kg of cargo.
