SR Technics, part of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, successfully redelivered its first VIP aircraft on-time in mid-February 2012, to an undisclosed Middle Eastern customer.

The widebody aircraft was reconfigured from a conventional airliner configuration into a modern aircraft interior with tailor-made VIP elements, bringing together custom-made design details within a VIP section with club seats and tables. As part of the modification, the latest VIP In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system and a new power system, among other features have been installed.

The work was completed within the historic 4,800 sqm Bogenhangar, in Zurich Switzerland; SR Technics' dedicated VIP completion center, which opened in May 2011. The secure hangar, ensures confidentiality is maintained throughout completion activities and boasts a state-of-the-art, comfortable interior with a VIP lounge offering meeting room and concierge facilities.

A team of design and engineering experts drawn from the international VIP sector guided the successful completion of a refurbishment and modification program on the Airbus aircraft, ensuring exacting quality standards set by the client were met. Accomplishing the project was a multi-disciplinary effort as the aircraft also underwent a C-check during the VIP completion.

Throughout the project SR Technics demonstrated its design and engineering capabilities, and as a result secured Production Organization Approval (EASA 21G) from the Swiss Federal Office for Civil Aviation, in December 2011.
