Gaining International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) registration is another milestone for Hongkong Jet coming fast on the heels of rapid expansion in the company's fleet of aircraft since receiving its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) in November 2011.
IS-BAO is a standard introduced by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) and is based on the ISO 9000 standards for aircraft safety. It serves as a code of best practice for the business aviation industry in terms of safety and professionalism. Achieving IS-BAO is recognition of Hongkong Jet's first class team and operational systems for safety.
Donald Spruston, Director General of IBAC stated: "The process to complete implementation is not easy. Your flight department management and personnel invested considerable time and personal effort to develop and implement this world-class business aviation code of practice. In achieving this registration milestone, your flight department has joined the expanding list of proactive flight departments around the world that have implemented the IS-BAO to manage the safety, security, efficiency and effectiveness of its operations," he said of Hongkong Jet.
With an uncompromising focus on safety, Hongkong Jet implements the highest standards when it comes to recruiting its safety team. Dan McAuley, a former British Royal Air Force Squadron Leader with broad first-hand experience of all aspects of aviation safety as well as quality and expertise in aviation coaching and management training, has been brought on board as Hongkong Jet's Vice President of Safety and Quality with responsibility for planning and implementing system-wide safety strategies. Chris Buchholz, CEO of Hongkong Jet, said: "We are very proud of our safety team. With our non-punitive safety culture, we actively encourage our staff to continuously contribute ideas to further enhance safety, whether by strengthening our procedures, training or resources. For inadvertent situations, the focus is never on the 'who,' but instead 'what' we will do to address risks. The importance of applying the highest safety standard on everything we do is engraved in every staff member's mind."
