Séverine Cattani, an architect who graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, specialises in the aviation sector. With excellent references, particularly in business aviation, her firm is now booming. Offering services ranging from project ownership to industrial development strategy, Séverine Cattani is now launching an airplane hangar concept, combining innovative and cost-efficient techniques.
Recognised experience in a high-tech sector
Hired by a business aviation company when she left architecture school, Séverine Cattani carried out a major renovation and development programme for a VIP passenger terminal at Paris-Le Bourget airport. She then created her own firm in Paris, promoting her specific airport infrastructure know-how. Séverine Cattani says she is only too happy to put her strong attachment to the aviation sector to her clients' advantage. "In each project, I endeavour to incorporate a little history, humanity, and aviation codes," she adds.
Confirming this position, Séverine Cattani already has various achievements in the private, institutional and industrial sector under her belt. The common theme for many of them is aviation: "FBO" (Fixed Base Operator: reception, services, and business aviation passenger and pilot boarding areas") and hangars for airlines, complete re-development of an aviation company based in a Haussmann building on Place de l'Etoile in downtown Paris. Séverine Cattani studies all projects, whether professional or personal. She has the knack of transforming a bare or charmless space into a pleasant area and is recognised in the field for monitoring the whole project—from conception to inauguration--with meticulous attention to detail.
The "Hangar" concept: cost efficient, multi-purpose and light
All over the world aircraft hangars are characterised by heavy sliding doors on tracks fixed to the ground. Who hasn't seen the image of a pilot or mechanic braced to push these impressive metal curtains with all their might? Even if the most advanced are power-assisted, they are all noisy to open and shake aircraft when they taxi over the door tracks.
Séverine Cattani has redefined aircraft hangars with a vertical opening system at a speed of 0,15m/s, freeing up floor area and adding attractiveness and efficiency. Quick to build, meeting all regulatory standards, adaptable to any area, "Hangar" effectively protects aircraft of all types of operators: from airlines and maintenance companies, to private owners, aircraft storage businesses and aviation shows.
Another major innovation is that the external structure is made of a translucent membrane letting natural light pass through made from multiple sound-absorbing cells that reduce background noise. Séverine Cattani's aim is to create a pure atmosphere, inspiring a feeling of calm, based on reliability, practicality and economies of scale to establish projects worthy of the demands of aviation professionals.
