Press Release
Issued by JETNET.
October 10, 2011
JETNET LLC, the world leader in aviation market intelligence, today announced results from its latest JETNET iQ research on the state of the business aviation industry. These results were released on the opening day of the 2011 National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention in Las Vegas, NV, the world's largest gathering of business aviation professionals.
At the heart of JETNET iQ is a proprietary quarterly on-line survey of business aircraft owners and operators. Respondents are contacted directly by JETNET's 42-person multilingual research team and provided a unique password and electronic link to the survey, which is available in 7 languages (Arabic, English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian).
Survey respondent profile (Q1 through Q3 2011):
• 1,500 owners and operators of 3,500 fixed wing turbine aircraft in 80 countries
• 59% North America, 19% Latin America & Caribbean, 13% Europe, 4% Asia Pacific, 4% Africa, 1% Middle East and Former Soviet Union
• 32% senior management / 68% aviation professional
• 53% made or influenced the last aircraft purchase decision
Brand reputations
Respondents in Q3 2011 indicate that Gulfstream is the overall business aircraft brand leader, scoring 8.6 on a 1-10 scale, where 10 is the highest possible score. Owners and operators of Gulfstream aircraft are more likely to rate their brand as #1 across various brand elements than any other respondent group. Respondents rate Cessna as #1 for reliability, service & support, and value for investment. Hawker Beechcraft is the top-rated brand for business turboprop aircraft across all brand elements. Pratt & Whitney Canada is the top-rated engine brand (8.8), followed closely by Rolls-Royce (8.7). Embraer is the brand that respondents believe will improve the most over the next 5-10 years.
JETNET iQ Fly/Buy Index
JETNET announced a new quarterly business aviation index. The JETNET iQ Fly/Buy Index is a composite measure of expected flight activity and new aircraft orders over the next 12 months. Based on responses to JETNET iQ's Global Business Aviation Surveys, the JETNET iQ Fly/Buy Index was established at a value of 100 based on market conditions at the beginning of 2011. The Index in Q2 2011 was 113.6. In other words, business aircraft owners and operators indicated that their intent to fly and buy business aircraft was up 13.6% over Q1 2011. In Q3 2011, the Index was 112.1, suggesting some slowing in the rate of increase in flight and order activity over the next 12 months, but still 12.1% higher than in Q1 2011. Index values above 100 indicate a growth in flying and ordering intentions over the levels anticipated by owners and operators in Q1 2011 when JETNET iQ surveys began.
JETNET iQ Business Jet Delivery Forecast
JETNET also announced its JETNET iQ Q3 2011 Business Jet Delivery Forecast. In the 10-year period from 2011-2020, there will be 11,381 business jets delivered, with a total delivery value of $US 258 Billion based on 2011 dollars and equipped list prices.

By region, North America (USA and Canada) are expected to take delivery of 50% of all business jets over the next 10 years, followed by Europe (21%), Asia Pacific (12%) and Latin America & Caribbean (9%).
