Issued by Société d’Exploitation de Toulouse Francazal Aéroport (SETFA).
December 22, 2010
SNC-Lavalin in Europe is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the French Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) to operate and convert the Toulouse-Francazal military airfield into a hub for business aviation. The contract is for a provisional one-year period, renewable for a second year.
With a network of nine airports across France and Europe, and numerous opportunities for synergy, SNC Lavalin is committed to establishing a policy for commercial development and service quality in the field of business and leisure aviation while providing airport maintenance by its own network specialists.
SNC-Lavalin's presence in nine airports across France is a reflection of true collaboration with the country's government agencies and local communities. This kind of trust relationship between SNC-Lavalin and various local players will make it possible to quickly set up an operational team at the Toulouse-Francazal site, renovate the buildings to create an airport capable of receiving business flight passengers and crew under the best possible conditions, and upgrade the airfield as of the very first year.
SNC-Lavalin will provide top quality airport services that meet the needs of the hub's current clients, namely SAFIRE (Service des Avions Français Instrumentés pour la Recherche en Environnement), the first RTP (Régiment du Train Parachutiste) and the Gendarmerie police force. The airfield's service offering will be adapted to meet changes in traffic based on government specifications.
Jean Claude Pingat, Executive Vice-President of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. and President of SNC-Lavalin in Europe, expressed his enthusiasm for the new concession, "Operating the Toulouse-Francazal airfield is a clear demonstration of the synergy that can exist between our Group and the various French government agencies." Youssef Sabeh, Vice-President, Operations, Airports of SNC-Lavalin in Europe, added, "This new airport operations contract will boost our position as a key operator in the sector and as a major economic player among local communities."
Toulouse-Francazal thus becomes the 10th airport to join the SNC-Lavalin Airports network, after Malta, Paris-Vatry, Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées, Cherbourg, Rouen and Tours, as well as the Vannes (Brittany) and Chalon-sur-Saône (Burgundy) airfields, which serve business, leisure and tourism aviation needs. SNC-Lavalin in Europe is also the designated prospective concessionaire for the Mayotte Airport.
SNC-Lavalin in Europe (2,800 employees and total sales in 2009 of €500 million) is involved in four major sectors of the engineering-construction field: building and urban planning; infrastructure, transportation and environment; industrial processes and life sciences (SNC-Lavalin Pharma / SNC-Lavalin Agro).
