General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) announced today that Daniel G. Clare, 52, will become president of its Jet Aviation business unit on July 1. Clare will report to Joseph T. Lombardo, executive vice president of General Dynamics' Aerospace group. Clare, a vice president of General Dynamics Corp., will succeed Peter G. Edwards, who announced his departure from Jet Aviation on June 20.
Clare has been senior vice president and chief financial officer for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, another General Dynamics business unit, since 2000. In that position he was responsible for providing financial services and support to all Gulfstream operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, financial reporting and analysis. He also was responsible for the company's information technology organization.
Clare joined Gulfstream in 1998 as director of finance for Aircraft Services. Prior to joining Gulfstream, he was vice president and chief financial officer for Liberty Technologies Inc. Earlier, he served in a variety of financial management positions throughout the General Electric Company. Clare holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University.
In making the announcement Lombardo said, "Dan is an able and talented leader who has a deep understanding of the aviation services industry, its customers and opportunities. Dan has been instrumental in implementing the financial discipline that supports Gulfstream's performance across the business cycle, and that experience will be valuable as he works with the Jet Aviation team to continue exceeding customers' expectations for world-class service."
