Elite hands helicopter simulator distribution rights to Helisim

One of the world's leading designer and manufacturer of PC-based flight simulators, Elite Simulation Solutions, has handed sales and marketing rights of its helicopter simulator line to Helisim GmbH – a company run by Timo Kläui, who was Elite's CEO from 1995 – 2002.

The two companies say the outsourcing move will give a much sharper focus to the development and promotion of Elite's helicopter simulators, which will strongly be aimed at the FNPT (Flight & Navigation Procedures Trainer) market.

The new deal gives Helisim the exclusive distribution rights all over the world except in the Americas (USA, Canada, Central and South America).

Currently available is the S723 device, an FNPT II configured for the single-engine Squirrel machine, whilst other developments – including higher visual resolution, the inclusion of 3D objects and structures such as oil rigs – are already in the pipeline.

Mr Kläui said: "Our customers will benefit from the know-how of both Elite and Helisim. Having a very close understanding of customers' needs and transferring them into FNPT products is of the utmost importance. We intend to develop markets throughout Europe and also in the Middle and Far Eastern markets."

One of Elite's board members, Helmut Pirchl, said: "This is a golden opportunity for Elite to market helicopter Sims through a dedicated company run by a former key player of Elite."

Helisim will be operating from the same premises at Dübendorf, near Zurich, Switzerland, where Elite is based.
