Jet Aviation appoints Martin Bernegger new general manager of Dubai FBO and maintenance operations

Jet Aviation has appointed Martin Bernegger senior vice president and general manager of Jet Aviation Dubai, effective January 1, 2008. The announcement came at this year's Dubai Air Show (Chalet A13 / Booth E546). He succeeds Phil Balmer whose new assignment within the Jet Aviation group will be announced later in the year. Balmer will facilitate Bernegger's introduction to his new responsibilities during a transition period.

Bernegger has been with Jet Aviation for more than 15 years in various management positions within the company's EMEA & Asia aircraft charter and management divisions in Zurich. In November 2000 he was appointed senior vice president and general manager of Jet Aviation's EMEA & Asia charter division. Under his leadership, the charter operation doubled its net sales. He was also instrumental in introducing the company's private charter fleet of Citation Bravo and Excel aircraft and in 2006, launched Jet Aviation's new innovative charter partner program "Skylliance" which became an immediate success. Bernegger has a background as a mechanical engineer. He began his career over 20 years ago as an aircraft engineer with SR Technics before he joined Lufthansa in Zurich as operations duty station manager in aircraft load control and planning. Prior to re-joining Jet Aviation in 2000, he was the head of Zurich Airport Authorities responsible for traffic services.

"We are pleased that Martin has accepted this new position. His technical background and excellent knowledge of the business aviation industry will help Jet Aviation to establish our Dubai operation as the MRO center of choice in the Middle East," says André Wall, Jet Aviation's COO for EMEA and Asia. "My thanks go out to Phil Balmer who recently asked me to be released from his duties as general manager. He was instrumental in setting up the location and successfully established Jet Aviation Dubai as a maintenance and FBO facility."
