Satcom1 has developed a powerful cost effective alternative to traditional troublesome picocells. Satcom1 provides this solution through its groundbreaking router AvioIP 2.0 software in correlation with any current Swift Broadband Satcom system.
Voice calls have been available in aircraft for many years through wired handsets. However, now that customers carry their personal cell phones with them, there is a need for customers to be able to use their own phones and contact lists for making calls. One solution to this issue is installing a picocell/GSM system, which enables clients to use their phones exactly as if they were on the ground. The limitations of this system include high cost, large installations and limited certifications.
By utilizing the AvioIP software, Satcom1 now provides customers benefits that cannot be obtained with other systems. With the AvioIP software, Satcom1 can further secure the quality of VoIP voice calls, while the GSM system uses channels which are not suitable for VoIP. In addition, Satcom1 can provide multiple voice channels while other systems can only provide one.
"Satcom1 has pioneered cell phone usage for VoIP solution by delivering Nokia Smart Phones for an A319 at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, and in 2010 we successfully delivered to an A340 head-of-state aircraft," says Mr. Jean-Francois Gault, Consultancy & Support Manager, Satcom1. "Therefore, we are proud to offer it to any potential VIP aircraft clients today."
Satcom1's new Aircell cooperation gives Aircell customers the ability to obtain Iridium and SwiftBroadband service/airtime from Satcom1. This gives Aircell customers an additional choice in service provider for their inflight communications services. It will also enhance Satcom1's support of Satcom1's current Aircell customers and allow it to attract new Aircell customers. Yet another Simple, Innovative and Secure solution from Satcom1, the world's most trustworthy satellite service provider!
