Standard Aero marks 40th anniversary of maintenance and service on model 250 engine

Standard Aero, a Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) Engineering company, today announced the 40th anniversary of service on the Rolls-Royce Model 250 turboshaft engine.

"Standard Aero is pleased to celebrate 40 years of serving customers as a Model 250 repair and overhaul center," said Tom Roche, Vice President, Helicopter Program.

"We began work on the original Model 250 engine in 1967 and since that time have become the largest Model 250 service provider in the world, with maintenance facilities in North America, Singapore and Australia.  The strength of the Standard Aero work team is the key to our program's success," Roche added.

Standard Aero technicians produced the custom build standard for the Model 250, as well as developed direct operating cost reduction initiatives to benefit operators.

Helping operators manage operating costs is at the forefront of Standard Aero's maintenance philosophy.  Developments for the Model 250 program over the years have included new tools and practices to build superior performing engines, which benefit operators flying in high and hot environments.

John Haffen, Chief of Maintenance at Alpine Helicopters Ltd., said, "Our longstanding relationship with Standard Aero has helped us to reduce direct operating costs on our engines.  To do this Standard Aero developed custom build processes that ensured our engines run cooler and stay in service longer.  Their responsive field service has kept us flying since 1965 and we've enjoyed sharing the journey together."

The Model 250 small gas turbine engine entered service in 1959.  The engine powers several aircraft, including helicopters used in civilian and military service.
