Press Release
Issued by Asian Business Aviation Association.
March 24, 2011
The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) has elected a new board comprising Chairman Jean-Noel Robert, Airbus Area Sales Director for North Asia, and Vice Chairmen David Dixon, Bombardier Business Aircraft Regional Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific and Lee Li, Embraer Vice President for Sales in the Greater China region.
All three were elected at the AsBAA Annual General Meeting in Hong Kong on 7th March 2011, which was attended by representatives of the many different players in business aviation, including aircraft management companies, business aircraft operators, manufacturers, service providers and suppliers.
"AsBAA exists to promote, preserve and grow business aviation throughout Asia by championing the benefits that it brings to countries, as well as companies, and by seeking out and advancing the common interests of its members, and we intend to be more active in doing that," says AsBAA Chairman Jean-Noel Robert.
"Everyone involved in business aviation recognizes the growing needs of operators that are either based in Asia or transiting throughout this vast region. The Asia-Pacific region is one of the fastest growing segments in civil aviation today, and by working together, we can properly identify needs and opportunities and develop strategic initiatives that will improve operations for our customers," adds AsBAA Vice Chairman David Dixon.
"If we can identify areas of common interest, and then lobby for them with a common voice, we can achieve results that will benefit all of us in corporate aviation, because we will be representing a larger, more widespread, and more powerful community," concludes AsBAA Vice Chairman Lee Li.
It is the intention of the AsBAA board to broaden the management of the association to include representatives of all the key aspects of business aviation, including management companies, operators and service providers – as well as aircraft manufacturers – and this is already reflected in the members of the Executive Committee.
As always, AsBAA's leaders have the responsibility to help define, and then implement, the decisions and priorities of its members.
Initial goals include growing the AsBAA membership, so as to have a greater voice in business aviation as well as a broader resource base, promoting a more coordinated approach to airshows and exhibitions, such as encouraging events that focus on business aviation which are better spaced throughout the year, and identifying key operational, maintenance and regulatory opportunities and challenges on a country-by-country basis throughout Asia.
Business aviation has grown significantly in Asia in the last few years, and AsBAA now has an opportunity to be more active and to achieve more by promoting its benefits and facilitating its growth within the region.
AsBAA was formed in 2000 and currently has more than 40 members. Its membership includes aircraft management companies, aircraft manufacturers, airshow organizers, banks, brokers, engine makers, fixed base operators (FBOs), operators, service providers, publishers, suppliers and training companies.
