Heli Charters Australia expands operations with acquisition of Weipa Air

Heli Charters Australia, North Queensland's largest helicopter operator, has purchased the fixed wing operation known as Weipa Air, expanding the current fleet of 12 helicopters to include 4 fixed wing twin-engine, air conditioned Aero Commanders.

Managing Director, Steve Spinaze says "having bases already in Cairns, Weipa, Normanton and Horn Island, means the expansion into fixed wing aircraft in these regions was a natural progression" to further enhance our commitment to serving these country regions.

The fleet of Aero Commanders will operate under the Weipa Air banner for all commercial charters including local and international freight, personnel transfers and geographical survey work throughout the whole of Northern Queensland. Tourism based scenic flights to Cape York and the Islands will be branded under our new business name of Air Charters Australia.
