CAE introduces CAE TrueTM Airport service, which will provide current, up-to-date visual databases on demand

CAE announced today at the Flight Simulator Engineering and Maintenance Conference it is introducing a new subscription-based service called CAE TrueTM Airport. The service is designed to keep the customers' visual databases current with constantly changing airport environments.

The CAE True Airport service will offer airlines and third-party training providers operating CAE visual systems the concurrency of the airport scenes in the visual databases used for flight training.  CAE will maintain customer-selected visual airport databases current and up-to-date, and then make these updated databases immediately available for download through a user-friendly web portal.  The databases will be compatible with CAE TroposTM-6000 and CAE TroposTM II image generators and will be certifiable to Level D qualification standards according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) requirements.

"CAE has been at the forefront of developing simulation technology that provides an incredibly realistic and immersive virtual environment," said Marc Parent, CAE's Group President, Simulation Products and Military Training & Services.  "However, one constant challenge has been keeping visual databases current with rapidly changing airport environments.  With the CAE True Airport service, we are helping our customers ensure they can train their pilots with the most update-to-date airport databases, thus providing the most realistic training experience to enhance safety and efficiency as well as keeping the airport scene current to comply with certification requirements."

Customers will subscribe to CAE True Airport on an annual basis, and receive automatic notifications when a new version of airports they have subscribed to are available for download.  Using advanced database development tools, CAE will update the airport databases whenever changes to the airport environment require database updates, such as the addition of new runways, air traffic control towers, or other prominent buildings.
