Press Release
Issued by London Biggin Hill Airport Ltd.
December 22, 2010
Jenny Munro has been appointed to the newly created position as Managing Director, Biggin Hill Airport.
She will join with effect from 1st March 2011 and will succeed Peter Lonergan who has been Airport Director since 1994 and is scheduled to retire at the end of March. Ms Munro will join at Biggin Hill from her current role as VP Development for Dubai International Airports.
Her 22-year career in the aviation industry began as a Check-in Agent with bmi British Midland in Edinburgh. Since that time she has had postings to London Heathrow, Paris, Brussels and to Dubai. Over the years, her responsibilities have been extended into product and operational roles at senior level with British Midland and later with Emirate Airlines, most recently with Dubai Airports. She has lived in the Middle East for 11 years.
As Managing Director at Biggin Hill, Ms Munro will be combining certain delegated tasks currently performed by the Executive Chairman, Andrew Walters, together with the role of Airport Director. Mr Walters says that Jenny Munro will bring new ideas and fresh thinking to plans for the management and future development of the airport. "Jenny Munro's career has spanned both product and operational roles for airlines and airports at increasingly senior executive levels, placing her in an ideal position to lead this historic south London airport at an important time in its commercial development and leading up to the forthcoming 2012 Olympics when it is expected to be an important gateway to London and the Games" he said.
Peter Lonergan will retire after 16 years as Airport Director. The Board has invited him to continue as a non-executive Director with special responsibility for the delivery of the new Fire Station, Terminal Hangar and other construction projects.
