ARINC at MEBA

ARINC Direct, the business aviation services arm of Annapolis, MD-based ARINC, is exhibiting at MEBA, the Middle East's premier business aviation show, Stand No C628 this week.

ARINC's Middle East representation supports business aviation, airports and airline operators, with offices in Dubai, Cairo, Doha, Sharjah International and Saudi Arabia.

Following a successful launch at NBAA, ARINC Direct will be promoting a major upgrade of its flight planning system at MEBA. Already relied upon by a growing number in the Middle East, ARINC will introduce features that will include new interactive planning capabilities with worldwide mapping and navigation data. ARINC has integrated its new map technology from SkyVector, a leading online chart provider, to make flight planning much easier for customers on line. Middle Eastern business aircraft operators can now view in great detail the current routes offered and the aeronautical map data behind it.

ARINC is also showing its newly launched safety management system (SMS) designed to help aircraft operators manage risk and promote the development of the internal organizational framework needed for a sound safety culture. Features include tools that are integrated with ARINC Direct flight planning and weather information functions which customers can use to carry out risk assessments.

ARINC Direct will also be highlighting its new role as an Inmarsat Distribution Partner, selling high-speed SwiftBroadband service more pro-actively to business aviation operators, as well as commercial aviation, government and military customers. With in-flight connectivity now more requested than IFE by private jet users, SwiftBroadband's impact in the region is quickly growing as it is installed on new business jets with increased regularity

SwiftBroadband provides ground-to-air and air-to-ground connectivity up to 432 kbps for high-speed data. It supports a wide range of crew and passenger applications, Voice communications, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) applications, passenger telephony including in-seat, mobile, VoIP and text messaging, E-mail, Internet, intranet, instant messaging, secure VPN access, and in-flight news updates.

ARINC presence strengthens at Middle East airports

Following the success of its airport systems integration work at Dubai Airport Terminal 3, ARINC has been the architect behind the development, project management, installation and integration of handling systems at the new Cairo International Terminal 3 in Egypt. The provision of passenger check-ins and displays, parking systems, biometric gates and ramp control culminated in a four year effort by ARINC to create a complete suite of customized airport systems. Systems provided by ARINC include self-service CUSS, ARINC SelfServ, iMUSE common-use passenger system, AirVUE flight information display system (FIDS), and AirDB™ airport operational database.

ARINC will also soon begin work at the new Doha International Airport in Qatar, due to open in December 2011.
