328 Support Services unveils new 328DBJ at Middle East Business Aviation Show (MEBA)

328 Support Services GmbH of Germany (328SSG) is pleased to announce the launch of its new VIP product the 328DBJ TM at MEBA. This aircraft replaces the "ENVOY" version of the 328 and will be the standard for all future VIP conversions. The aircraft will be available for viewing, by appointment, on the static display opposite 328SSG's Chalet 1.

This higher-spec, new generation 328 interior, is the result of collaboration between UK-based ctm design Ltd and the 328SSG German-based interior completion team. Special features of the 328DBJ TM include a new VIP galley that utilises the forward cabin area more efficiently by generating nearly half a metre more cabin space. The stretched interior can also accommodate both a lounge and conference area. With redesigned ceiling and side wall panels featuring electric window blinds and slim-line PSU's the 328DBJ TM gives the impression of increased cabin room measuring 10m long, 2.15m wide and 1.8m high. IFE can be tailored to each customer's requirements and offers the latest generation of full HD standard. The interior on display at MEBA has a 32 inch monitor that deploys from the credenza to watch films or enjoy Play Station games. There is also a WiFi phone system with internet access from Aircell.

The 328DBJ TM on display at MEBA belongs to a private owner from South America. "The buyer was attracted by the jet's fuel-efficiency, climb performance and short runway capability. The combination of the newly installed extended range tanks, a dual FMS system, and second GPS sensor, means the aircraft can also fly direct from Africa to South America rather than via the longer northern route which was important for the owner", said Dave Jackson Managing Director of 382 SSG.

The aircraft technology meets the Minimum Navigation Performance Specification "MNPS" for unrestricted operations in MNPS Airspace such as the North Atlantic, Oceanic and Remote Areas. The aircraft is capable of operation according to the FAA AC 91-70A "Oceanic and International Operation" in conjunction with FAA Notice 8110-60 "GPS as a Primary Means of Navigation for Oceanic/Remote Operations".

"The 328DBJ TM has a low unit cost price per airframe of around US$3-6 million (unconverted or modified) and refurbishment can range between US$4-6 million depending on the customers taste. It's a value proposition we call 'affordable luxury' and is proving attractive to people who do not wish to purchase a green VIP jet from the traditional aircraft manufacturers," says Ray Mosses, Head of Sales.

Two more 328DBJ TM aircraft are being completed in Bavaria for SkyBird Air, a Nigerian customer, who first saw the Dornier 328 at the MEBA air show. SkyBird will also be taking delivery of a completed 328 airliner featuring the same colours and materials as the luxurious VIP interior. IS FROM"This transformation by ctm design has been a revelation for both employees and customers." said Kim Fuller, Sales Support Manager 328SSG.

328SSG also continues to receive much interest for the aircraft configured for special missions platforms such as air ambulance or coast watch, as well as conversions to pure freight role for both the Prop and JET versions of the Dornier 328.
