MAJ Aviation breaks ground for new $8 million general aviation hangar in Seletar General Aviation Centre

With the support of Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Jurong Town Council (JTC), MAJ Aviation was successfully awarded the Direct Land Allocation for the construction of a new $8 million General Aviation hangar and ancillary facility in the General Aviation Centre (GAC). This landmark development marks the first step towards MAJ Aviation's vision in redefining the support for the General Aviation sector in Singapore. Guest-of-Honour for the GAC ground-breaking ceremony was Mr Philip Yeo, Chairman of SPRING Singapore.

An innovative one-stop service centre for General Aviation

Strategically located at the central eastern stretch of "air-access" land, this new facility will occupy an area of 0.6 ha, including a hangar infrastructure to support Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities and aircraft parking. Designed to optimize land and achieve operational cost savings, MAJ Aviation is the first company in Singapore and Asia to incorporate a rotating carousel in its hangar. The rotating carousel will be able to park and display up to 14 aircraft, topping up as a viewing gallery for visitors. The GAC will offer a wide spectrum of facilities such as Fixed Base Operator (FBO) services, supporting amenities and tenancy for General Aviation operators to provide a one-stop service solution for the local General Aviation community.

Redefining the support for General Aviation in Singapore

Since the initial build-up of MAJ Aviation's MRO capability, SPRING Singapore has been providing support and contributing to the growth of the GA business. This new facility will stretch MAJ Aviation's current MRO capabilities to full scale and expand its customer base. With the provision of FBO services and supporting amenities, MAJ's new General Aviation hangar and ancillary facility will open up new opportunities in the untapped General Aviation market segment. According to Mr Khoo Beng Keat, Managing Director of MAJ Aviation, "MAJ's new hangar and ancillary facility will be the first in Singapore to establish new service standards for a wider range of MRO services, complemented with Fixed Base Operation (FBO) services for Light Aircraft."

Completing the aviation eco-system in Seletar Aerospace Park

As Singapore grows to be Asia's leading MRO hub, there is a need to provide total MRO solutions to meet the demands of the aviation industry. MAJ's new General Aviation hangar and ancillary facility will play an essential role in completing the aviation eco-system in Seletar Aerospace Park.
