Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) is pleased to announce the launch of the English Test for Aviation (ETA). Developed jointly by OAA and Aviation English language training specialists, emery-roberts (ER), and in consultation with independent experts in the field of language testing, the ETA is a high quality language test for private, commercial and airline transport pilots. Approved for ICAO proficiency testing by the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority and by other national authorities, the ETA provides users with an innovative and highly effective measure of the full range of English language abilities required for safe radiotelephony communications. This new test represents the very highest standards in aviation English language assessment.

ETA provides for both direct and semi-direct testing of English speaking and listening skills and is administered on an individual basis by two specially trained and qualified examiners, one an aviation specialist and the other an English Language expert. ETA complies fully with all ICAO guidance on language testing and with JAA-FCL 1.010. This new product will be offered to individuals, airlines, training schools and other aviation organisations through the OAA group network of training centres and can also be provided at any customer location worldwide.

The launch of ETA adds to the growing "Clear Skies" portfolio of English Language products tailored for aviation now available through the OAA and emery-roberts partnership. The range includes English preparatory courses offered at OAA's Oxford Training Centre in addition to specialist courses designed to prepare selected individuals to deliver or test Aviation English within their own organisations.
