As demand for its business jet completion, refurb and maintenance work rises, Innotech Aviation has increased its Montreal staff by more than 35 designers and engineers. Maintaining the company's status and reputation as true 'state-of-the-art' continues to require investment in capital equipment, software and manpower, according to company officials.
The company's focus is on enhanced capability, integrated, cutting-edge product development and lean manufacturing in all departments.
Innotech specializes in completions and major service for Global and Challenger aircraft, is a certified Bombardier Preferred Completion Center (PCC) and Authorized Service Facitliy (ASF) for these types.
"In the traditional organizational model, engineering is set apart from the rest of the company," said Rob Brooks, VP and general manager. "Today, our engineers are an essential part of the completion process, and they are integrated in all departments within the company. Our newly-created "SMARTEAM" system sustains valuable interaction, with design and engineering drawings available on-screen at dedicated work stations on the shop floor, and throughout the facility," he added.
The engineering staff works with 3-D CATIA V5 - the latest design software program. It allows the creation of easily comprehensible three-dimensional perspective drawings and drives computer-assisted manufacturing, an industry-leading process.
With this software the company is moving away from traditional interpretation and manufacturing techniques, minimizing downtime and improving quality concurrently
