Leading satellite communications equipment manufacturer Thrane & Thrane announces today (18 October 2010) that it is ready to take orders for its cutting-edge AVIATOR 200 SwiftBroadband solution, in line with Inmarsat's launch of the new SwiftBroadband 200 service. Thrane & Thrane's AVIATOR 200 will be the first SB200 terminal on the market, following successful installation and testing of the system onboard a Cessna Citation business jet, which resulted in the company receiving Inmarsat Type Approval for the innovative new system.
"We are delighted to announce the successful installation and testing of the AVIATOR 200 which has resulted in the system becoming the first SB200 terminal to receive Inmarsat Type Approval. With an exceptionally compact and lightweight design, the AVIATOR 200 ensures the availabilty of in-flight broadband communication to the broadest range of aircraft possible. The AVIATOR 200 will be the first SwiftBroadband 200 solution on the market, which is testament to Thrane & Thrane's position at the forefront of innovation and technological development," comments Kim Gram, Vice President, Aeronautical Business Unit, Thrane & Thrane.
Installation and testing of the AVIATOR 200 was carried out by Thrane & Thrane partner, Banyan Air Services. Brian Wilson, Director of Avionics, Banyan Air Services comments, "The Thrane & Thrane AVIATOR 200 performed exceptionally throughout installation and testing, proving to offer a wealth of functionality for smaller business aircraft. We are very excited by the introduction of Inmarsat SwiftBroadband 200 and Thrane & Thrane's AVIATOR 200 and are confident that both system and service will enable us to offer cutting-edge communications to customers who haven't been able to take advantage of in-flight broadband before."
Thrane & Thrane's AVIATOR 200 solution simultaneously provides data speeds up to 200 Kbps and a single AMBE 2 channel for voice calls, offering users aboard smaller aircraft a complete communications experience where this was previously not achievable. Data and voice services can be accessed via wired or wireless connections built into the AVIATOR 200, alleviating the need for external wired and wireless routers. The AVIATOR 200 introduces in-flight broadband communication to an entirely new segment of users, providing airborne connectivity for business, military and government users, particularly where weight and space may be critical considerations.
Thrane & Thrane is showcasing the AVIATOR 200 at this year's NBAA. Please visit Booth 5921 or www.thrane.com/aviator_200 for further information.
