Four of the UK's air ambulance charities have reported record-breaking years, their Airbus H135, Bell 429 and Agusta Westland 109SP helicopters were at their busiest since before the COVID pandemic.

Donning PPE and continuing throughout lockdowns, the critical care paramedics and doctors of HEMS operator Wiltshire Air Ambulance were there for the people of the UK's southwest when they were needed most.

Of the 1,238 missions last year, 568 were by helicopter and 670 were in WAA's rapid response cars. The largest number of call outs, 383, were to cardiac emergencies, which is almost one in three missions.
